About us

XtraTime Sports Development was established in 2007 by Chris West. The purpose of the business was originally to deliver football coaching, but as demand for additional sports coaching quickly grew, so did XtraTime.

Chris has an extensive background in football coaching. He managed a Trimley Red Devils boys football team from 2001 – 2012 and owned a pre-school football business for ten years, alongside running XtraTime. Also in partnership with Trimley Red Devils and Suffolk FA, Chris has been running Wildcats, football classes for girls aged 5 to 11, for the last two years. 

In 2012, XtraTime became a family business when Chris’ brother Matt became Sports Development Manager. Chris’ children Leon and Lily also support part-time in school holidays and Lily is now a fully qualified gymnastics coach, while Leon supports with football coaching and helps run activities at the Suffolk Show.

In the last 16 years the business has expanded its team of coaches and now runs weekly clubs and P.E programmes in schools across Suffolk and Essex. You can find out more about who we work with and the services we offer on our schools page (link). 
The team also offer holiday clubs and activities in a variety of venues. These include our popular Dance Mania, Football Mania and Sports Mania sessions.

Why we do what we do

It is recommended that children aged 5-18 should participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day but research indicates that less than a quarter (24%) successfully meet these requirements. 

Here at XtraTime, we aim to encourage a love of sport through a variety of fun and educational activities. Our sessions are planned around the different age groups and tailored towards the abilities and interests of the children.
